While it's not great that the story mission is exclusive for a year, at least the main game isn't.

That stunt put a lot of fans off of buying the sequel all together and directly affected sales of the third game in the trilogy. Uncharted got delayed for 6 months and Fallout 4 came out on the same day and was multiplatform. The whole thing backfired for both Microsoft and Square Enix. This was all to try and have a competitor for Uncharted 4 on an Xbox, when they were scheduled to release as the same time. Tomb Raider is most popular on PlayStation and PC and has been multiplatform since it's release in 1996. They even barred the PC release for like 3-4 months. One big example I can think of is when they paid to have the sequel to the multiplatform Tomb Raider (2013), exclusive to Xbox for a year.
